2016-2017 Annual Report On July 1, 2016, the Imperial Symphony Orchestra boldly entered its 51st season of performances as a semi-professional, paid orchestra. With 48 talented musicians, Imperial Symphony Orchestra audiences enjoyed 16 free concerts, four Masterworks performances, four educational lectures and a fully-staged opera! Donors like you made it possible for 10,000 students and children to attend free performances, including 8,500 school children who attended as part of annual School Day Enrichment concerts. The Imperial Symphony Orchestra joins the Polk Arts Alliance in welcoming Beth Mason to the Polk Arts Hall of Fame, as the 2017 Award recipient. She is known as “Mother Music” for her gracious musical influence on several generations on Lakelanders; however, Beth Mason is a long-time champion of Polk County’s entire arts community. “If there is an art event in Polk County, Beth Mason will attend it,” says Rob Tate, Vice-President of External Relations at Florida Southern College.
