Munn Park Saints performs for Music Munnday April 18, 2016.
Plans are taking shape for five Music Munnday concerts in October, culminating with a Halloween dance party on October 31. Music Munndays are a partnership of the Imperial Symphony Orchestra (ISO) and the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority (LDDA) that brings live music to downtown Lakeland’s Munn Park during Monday’s lunch hour.
The first Music Munnday series took place in February, March and April of 2016, bringing more than 200 folks to Munn Park for each of eight performances. The LDDA paid for enhancements to the area’s WiFi signal and the City installed several sets of tables and chairs thanks to donations from the MIDFLORIDA Spring Obsession event, so LDDA executive director Julie Townsend was looking for a way to bring more folks into the park to enjoy the updates. Julie shared her idea with the ISO, and the rest, as they say, is history!
In addition to live music, the LDDA brings board games, corn hole and coloring pages for concert goers. Several downtown restaurants offer “brown bag” lunch specials, making a lunch concert experience even more convenient!
