Give Inspiration: Give Kids Music this Holiday
With your generosity, the first half of the ISO’s season has been a tremendous success! Since September, ISO musicians have performed seven concerts for more than 6,800 folks… and they have at least three more scheduled in December!
As you know, the ISO relies on the generosity of patrons like you to fulfill its mission to “educate, entertain and inspire” audiences through live music. I want you to know why those gifts are so important.
In November, ISO musicians performed a free concert for 400 children and families at the Mulberry Phosphate Museum. Education committee members worked with Museum staff to ensure that children (and parents) could identify fossils, make their own musical instruments and learn that history, science and music are all connected!
Your contributions helped keep this concert free for families.
Together with the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority, the ISO brought Music Munndays to downtown Lakeland in the month of October. These lunchtime concerts provided a relaxing midday respite to workers, families and school children from McKeel ELementary Academy.
Your contributions helped create a sense of community in downtown.
More than 4,400 fifth graders poured in to Youkey Theatre for the ISO’s annual School Day Enrichment concerts in October! As elementary students begin to study specific instruments, the ISO’s introduction of symphonic instruments is perfectly timed, and helps teachers reinforce in-classroom lessons.
Your contributions ensure that students connect to symphonic music face-to-face.
On average, an ISO performance will cost $15,000. I admit… renting chairs and transporting music stands doesn’t feel like an exciting way to make an impact, but each small portion of an ISO production works with the others to create an experience where audiences feel transformed.
Thank you for your gifts to the ISO this year – and thank you for ensuring that the ISO will continue to provide “inspiration for generations!” As you consider additional contributions for the end of the year, please keep the ISO in mind. The second half of the season will bring an opera, more School Day Enrichment concerts and more Masterworks!
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year,
Amy Wiggins, executive director
